This strong plant grows both in the open ground and in a pot and can be led along a pergola, fence or rack. In spring the first leaves appear, followed by small flowers and eventually the grapes. Prune the plant annually in winter to promote growth and fruit production. The grape plant is hardy, but young plants may need extra protection in severe frosts.

The grape plant has average water requirements. Make sure the soil is well-drained and kept slightly moist, especially during dry periods. Prevent the roots from standing in too wet soil.
