Prunus laurocerasus ‘Obelisk’, better known as laurel hedge, is an ornamental and evergreen hedge plant native to southeastern Europe and Asia Minor.
Care & tips Bay laurel Obelisk - 150 cm
Bay laurel Obelisk is a popular hedge plant because of its upright growth, glossy leaves and evergreen character. This variety grows faster than most laurel varieties and remains beautifully narrow and upright, which makes it ideal for narrow hedges. The plant is hardy and can withstand temperatures down to around -15°C. For a dense hedge at 10 metres long, you will need about 20 plants (2 per metre). Prune once or twice a year to keep the hedge nice and tight.

Laurel Obelisk prefers a slightly moist soil, especially in the first months after planting. Never let the soil dry out completely, especially during hot or dry periods. Make sure the soil is well-drained so that excess water does not remain at the roots.

This laurel species is quite tolerant when it comes to light. It does well in full sun, semi-shade and shade. Do you want a full and healthy hedge? Then a location with sufficient light is recommended, especially if the hedge gets little sun on one side.
