Product Description
Trachycarpus is known for its snapped leaves and small bumps on the foliage. This is because these palms grow on the coast in Spain in the wind and snap their leaves for protection. With this precaution, the palm ensures that an entire stem does not break off with every gust of wind.
The Trachycarpus is a cool outdoor plant that originally grows at high altitudes in the Himalayan mountains. The Dutch nickname of the Trachycarpus is the Henneppalm or Handpalm and it belongs to the Aracaceae family. Trachycarpus is a well-known garden plant because of its beautiful fan-shaped leaves. It is a hardy palm that will survive our winters outside very well!
Care & tips Trachycarpus - 130 cm
Trachycarpus is a real sunbather and needs this light intensity to stay beautiful and healthy. This also makes it a thirsty plant! It is beneficial to give the Trachycarpus some extra nutrition during the summer months. That way you will support its growth and development. Use palm food for this and never give more than the recommended amount.
Water requirements Trachycarpus - 130 cm
Trachycarpus is a thirsty garden plant that needs daily watering, especially in summer. Make sure the soil does not dry out, but avoid excess water as this can cause brown or black leaf tips. In this case, you can prune the affected leaves and reduce watering slightly. In winter, the soil may dry out slightly between waterings, as the plant uses less water due to reduced sunlight.
Light requirements Trachycarpus - 130 cm
Trachycarpus thrives best in a sunny spot, both indoors and outdoors in direct sunlight. Make sure it is out of the wind and draughts to avoid leaf damage. Although this hardy palm can survive temperatures down to -18°C, in extreme cold it is wise to bring it inside or protect it with a winter cover.
Is Trachycarpus - 130 cm a poisonous plant?
No, the Trachycarpus is not poisonous and therefore animal-friendly. However, we advise against consuming the leaves or incorporating them in food.
