Originally from the Himalayas, the Trachycarpus is a hardy plant that copes well with our outdoor climate. In the Netherlands it is also called the Henneppalm or Handpalm, and the plant belongs to the Aracaceae family.

The Trachycarpus is a thirsty plant, especially in summer, and it needs water daily. Make sure the soil does not dry out, but take care not to give too much. Too much water can cause brown or black leaf tips, in which case you should cut back on the amount you give. In winter the soil can dry out a little between waterings, since the palm uses less water with the limited sunlight.
