Taxus baccata, also known as venison tree, is a classic hedge plant native to large parts of Europe, including the Netherlands.
Care & tips Taxus baccata - 100 cm
Taxus baccata is a strong and low-maintenance outdoor plant that is excellent for forming a tight, evergreen hedge. It grows slowly, so you don't need to prune it often, but once properly formed, it stays nice and compact. The plant is completely hardy and retains its dark green needles all year round, even in the coldest months. For a dense hedge at 10 metres long, we recommend planting around 25 plants (2.5 per metre).
Water requirements Taxus baccata - 100 cm
The Taxus likes a slightly moist soil, but can also tolerate short periods of drought well. When planting, make sure the soil is well-drained so that excess water can drain away quickly, as the roots do not like wet feet. Water more often in the first year after planting, especially in dry periods.
