Orchid care & tips (Phalaenopsis)

Many people think an orchid is difficult to look after. Logical, because such a beautiful flowering plant must need a lot of attention, right? Fortunately, it is not that difficult! Once you have found the right position, your orchid hardly needs any extra care and you will enjoy its beautiful flowers for a long time.

Orchid's water requirements

The Orchid is one of the easier houseplants and needs water only once a week. In summer, this is weekly on average, while in winter you only need to water once every 10-12 days.

However, how you water the orchid is a little different from what you might be used to. It is best to remove the entire clod from the pot and place it in a container of water. Leave the root ball in the water for about 10 minutes so it can drink well, and then drain it well. This will prevent water from staying in the bottom of the pot, which can cause root rot - of course, we don't want that!

Light requirements Orchid

This tropical houseplant needs a spot with sufficient indirect sunlight, a northeast-facing windowsill spot would be ideal. Protect your orchid from direct sunlight, as this can burn the leaves.

Is the orchid a poisonous houseplant?

This cool plant is not poisonous! A great combination with children and pets.

The flowering of an orchid

The Phalaenopsis orchid is a houseplant that flowers as many as three times a year, with blooms lasting between 2 and 6 months. That means you can enjoy its beautiful flowers all year round! You don't need to cut off the orchid's stems to get new blooms. However, if the stems get too long, you can simply cut them off and put the flowers in a vase for extra ambiance in your home.

How will my Orchid be shipped?

These amazing houseplants come in a growing pot. All our houseplants are shipped in specially designed shipping boxes. Due to the unique interior of the shipping boxes, the houseplants stand firmly in the box and cannot move. Houseplants don't mind spending a day in a dark box. So we make sure your green friends are delivered to your home in tip-top order.
