The Nolina Hibernica garden plant - 140 cm is a graceful plant with a thick, rough trunk and a full crown of long, narrow leaves that cascade down like a fountain. The soft, grass-like foliage moves beautifully in the wind and contrasts nicely with the sturdy trunk.

At 140 cm this Nolina already has a clear trunk with a full, cascading crown. A beautiful size for a large pot on the patio or as a solitary plant in a gravel garden. Larger specimens of 160 and 180 cm are also available. Combine it with grasses, lavender or other Mediterranean plants for a southern atmosphere. The Nolina Hibernica is one of the hardiest species in its family and can handle down to about -15 °C, as long as the soil stays dry. Plant it in sandy, well-draining soil or give it a roomy pot with a generous drainage layer of gravel or clay pebbles; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a model sturdy enough for its crown. It hardly needs feeding: an organic garden fertiliser in spring is enough. Trim dried leaves at the bottom. If it is in a pot, place it on pot feet in winter and preferably under a canopy or against a sheltered wall.
