Product Description

The Flower bulb mix Pink is a composed mix of spring-flowering bulbs with pink as the common thread, in a range of shades. Because it contains several species, the plants vary in height and flower shape; expect around 20 to 50 centimetres. The species complement each other, and some of the bulbs can naturalise.

All bulbs are size 10/12. Plant the mix in borders and flower beds or in pots and containers on the patio; they also work well as cut flowers. With 125 bulbs you fill a few large pots or a spot of about two square metres in the border. With 250 bulbs you plant a generous bed, and with 500 or 1000 bulbs you create a long strip along the path or a whole flower meadow; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. Feel free to combine them with other flower bulb mixes. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Flower bulb mix Pink?

Plant the Flower bulb mix Pink between mid-October and the end of November, once the soil temperature has dropped below 10 °C. During those weeks the bulbs still root before winter without appearing above ground. If there is no frost yet, you can also plant in December. A period of cold is needed to trigger flowering, so planting in spring makes no sense.

When do the Flower bulb mix Pink flower?

The Flower bulb mix Pink flowers in March and April. Because the species in the mix do not all open at once, you get several weeks of colour in a row; an individual flower stays beautiful for about one to three weeks. In a pot in a warm spot they flower earlier, after a cold spring later. If you let the foliage die back quietly after flowering, the bulbs will return next spring.

Care and tips Flower bulb mix Pink

Set the bulbs in the ground pointed end up. The rule of thumb is two to three times the bulb height, here about 10 to 12 centimetres deep, with 8 to 10 centimetres between the bulbs. Loose, well-drained soil works best; on heavy clay a spadeful of sand or compost helps. In a pot, start with a layer of gravel or clay pebbles for drainage; you will find a suitable pot among our outdoor pots and baskets. After flowering, remove the spent flowers and leave the foliage until it turns yellow, so the bulbs can store energy. A handful of bulb fertiliser in early spring is enough.

Water needs of the Flower bulb mix Pink

In the garden, rain is usually enough. Only in a dry autumn do you give a thorough watering after planting. Pots dry out faster: water about once a week from the moment the first leaves appear. Do not let water stand in the saucer, because bulbs with wet feet will rot.

Light needs of the Flower bulb mix Pink

Choose a spot in full sun, ideally with six hours of sun or more a day. That is where the mix flowers most abundantly and the stems stay short and sturdy. With less light the stems stretch and the mix flowers less abundantly.

Are the Flower bulb mix Pink toxic?

The Flower bulb mix Pink is mildly toxic if ingested; this applies mainly to the bulbs themselves. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. Some bulbs can irritate sensitive skin, so wear garden gloves when planting.

How will my Flower bulb mix Pink be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
