Care & tips for the Kentia palm

The Kentia palm isn't a difficult plant to look after, but even this tropical star needs a bit of attention now and then. So it's worth knowing how best to care for this tropical houseplant.

How much water does the Kentia palm need?

Make sure the soil of the Kentia palm is always lightly moist. Do be careful not to give it too much water, though. That can waterlog the roots and cause root rot, and root rot can end up killing the plant.

How much light does the Kentia need?

The Kentia palm likes a bright spot, but not direct sunlight. You'd expect a palm with such a tropical background to love the sun, but nothing could be further from the truth. Direct sunlight doesn't do the Kentia palm any favours.

Is the Kentia palm toxic?

The Kentia palm is not toxic, which makes it safe around pets and children. So you can put it anywhere in your home with complete peace of mind.

How is my Kentia palm shipped?

This houseplant is delivered in a nursery pot. All our houseplants are shipped in boxes we designed ourselves: a snug inner fitting keeps the plant firmly in place so it can't shift in transit. Plants don't mind a day in a dark box, so your green friend arrives home in perfect condition.
