Product description
The Dischidia Geri is becoming increasingly popular and for good reason. Originally from Asia, this hanging houseplant is related to the Asclepiadaceae.
In the Netherlands, this houseplant is also known as the ‘dime plant’. It owes this name to its somewhat thick round leaves. Dischidia Geri is an epiphyte, so it actually grows on other plants, such as: trees or tree branches. In a living room or other room, the Dischidia Geri will not be able to grow on other plants, but don't worry. If you care for the Dischidia Geri correctly, it will become just as beautiful as in nature.
Because it is a hanging houseplant, it becomes a real eye-catcher but because of its unusual leaves, you could say it is a really hip houseplant!
Care & tips Dischidia Geri
In terms of care, this houseplant really isn't the most difficult one! It is a fast grower and its branches may grow too long. When this happens, you can confidently cut them down to the desired length. With the right care, Dischidia Geri can flower spontaneously. There are no specific flowering periods for this. You will then see small white flowers appear. There is no guarantee that every Dischidia Geri will flower, which is perhaps even better because the flowers have a strong smell
Water requirements of the Dischidia Geri
As mentioned, the Dischidia Geri is not a difficult plant in terms of care, so this also applies to watering. The leaves of this houseplant are quite thick and this ensures that the Dischidia Geri does not need much water. We advise you to give small amounts of water several times so that the soil dries out a little each time. It's better to skip one watering than to overwater once. Because Dischidia Geri is an epiphyte, the best way to water it is with a plant spray.
If you want to give your Dischidia Geri an extra boost, you can mix some plant food through the water and give it to the Dischidia Geri.
Light requirements of Dischidia Geri
This houseplant likes the necessary light. Therefore, give it a nice warm and light spot but avoid full sun. In the summer months, Dischidia Geri would also do well outdoors. Make sure the temperature does not drop below 15 degrees, because Dischidia Geri does not tolerate this very well. This houseplant is no fan of draughts either.
Is Dischidia Geri a poisonous houseplant?
The Dischidia Geri is not a poisonous houseplant, so in terms of location you don't have to take animals or small children into account. This probably wasn't a problem already because the Dischidia Geri often hangs at height
How will my Dischidia Geri be shipped?
