The Ficus Elastica Abidjan is a strong houseplant that has few requirements, but does like a permanent spot. This luxurious plant has strikingly shiny, dark red leaves that give a chic look to any interior. Avoid large temperature fluctuations and draughts, and turn the plant occasionally so that it grows evenly. If your home is dry, you can occasionally mist the leaves with a little water.

The potting soil of the Ficus Abidjan may be slightly moist, but certainly not too wet. Allow the top layer of soil to dry before watering again. Less water is needed in winter. Too much water leads to yellow leaves or root rot, so be aware of this. Has the plant been repotted? Then use a moisture meter!

This Ficus thrives in a bright spot with plenty of indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight, especially in the afternoon, can damage the leaves. If the plant is placed in a spot that is too dark, it will stop growing and the leaves may fall off. A spot near an east- or west-facing window is perfect.
