The Calathea is a mega easy houseplant. Put the plant in a spot in normal daylight and it will soon be happy.
Water requirements Calathea Makoyana - 60cm
The potting soil of the Calathea Makoyana is best kept slightly moist, but be careful not to overwater the plant. Too much water can accumulate at the bottom of the pot near the roots, which can lead to root rot. We therefore recommend checking carefully before each watering to see if the soil is still moist from the previous time. Is that the case? Then wait a while before watering.
It is also a good idea to regularly spray the leaves with a water sprayer. This way, you keep the humidity around the plant high.
Light requirements of Calathea Makoyana - 60cm
The Calathea Makoyana originates from the tropics of South America, where it grows in the shade of large trees, especially in the Amazon region. For this reason, the plant does not tolerate too much (direct) sunlight and prefers a shady spot in the house. In such a location, the leaves remain at their most beautiful and the formation of new leaf markings is encouraged.
