Product description
The fresh green leaves with dark green markings of the Calathea Leopardina deserve a nice spot in your house, but only a spot in the shade. The Calathea Leopardina belongs to the Marantaceae family. This family grows in the shade of large trees in the Tropical rainforest and cannot tolerate much sunlight.
Wow. The Calathea Leopardina is another gem of the Marantaceae family. The leaf is fresh green and has a beautiful leaf pattern from the seams. When the sun goes down, the Calathea folds its leaves, straight up. Because this looks like a hand that is praying, a second nickname for the Calathea is the 'Prayer Plant'. In the early morning light, the plant will unfold itself again and show its beautiful leaf pattern. This is often accompanied by a nice rustling sound.
Care & tips Calathea Leopardina - 35cm
Just like all other Calathea's, the Calathea Leopardina needs to be placed in a shady spot.
Because Calatheas originally grow in the shadow of large plants and tall trees, they do not tolerate too much sunlight. This will endanger the production of new leaf patterns and the leaves may even burn. Take this into consideration when selecting a location for the Calathea Leopardina.
Water requirements for Calathea Leopardina - 35cm
The soil of the Calathea Leopardina may always remain slightly moist, but make sure not to over water the plant. Too much water can cause it to accumulate at the bottom of the pot near the roots, which can cause root rot. Root rot can mean the end of the plant. For this reason we advise you to feel deep into the soil with two fingers before every watering to determine whether the Calathea Leopardina needs some water again. If it is dry here, the plant may be watered. If the soil is still wet from the previous watering, we advise you to wait with watering. We also recommend spray watering the leaves once a week to keep the humidity high.
Light requirements for Calathea Leopardina - 35cm
The Calathea Leopardina originally grows in the tropics of South America and the Amazon region. Here, the plant grows up in the shadow of larger plants and tall trees. For this reason, the plant prefers a shady spot in your home and does not tolerate direct sunlight well. So pay attention to this when you are choosing a place for the plant. In a shady spot, the leaves remain at their best and the production of new leaf designs will be stimulated. The plant can also survive well in normal daylight, but make sure that the Calathea Leopardina does not receive too much light. When the Calathea is placed in too much light, it will show this by curling its leaves and becoming crunchy.
Is the Calathea Leopardina - 35cm poisonous?
No, fortunately the Calathea Leopardina is not poisonous to humans or animals.
