The plant can grow flowers at an age of about 7 years. Important: it remains a living product, so we do not guarantee that your Strelitzia will grow 100% flowers.
The Strelitzia Reginae is a popular and well-known houseplant. Who doesn't know its beautiful purple and orange flowers? The nickname of the Strelitzia Reginae is Bird of Paradise flower and with good reason. This Strelitzia adds a unique atmosphere to any room, even when this plant is not in bloom.
Originally, this flowering houseplant comes from South Africa but can now be found in almost all tropical and subtropical regions.
Care & tips Strelitzia Reginae - 200 cm
The Strelitzia Reginae is known for its amazing orange and blue coloured flowers. However, not every Strelitzia Reginae will bloom. First of all, the green houseplant will need to be four to seven years old before it can flower. Proper care will increase its chances of flowering. The attention and energy you put into the Strelitzia Reginae can pay off in these amazing flowers!
Water requirements of the Strelitzia Reginae - 200 cm
The Strelitzia Reginae is a large houseplant and so it also needs a lot of water, especially in the summer months. When watering, give the Strelitzia Reginae so much water that the soil is completely dry after about one week. Test this in the beginning by feeling the soil every other day after watering. If after three days you feel that the soil is already dry, give more water if necessary to keep the Strelitzia Reginae healthy. In the winter months, the soil may be slightly drier before another watering. This is because the Strelitzia Reginae uses less water in the winter months. So be careful not to overwater in the winter months as this can lead to root rot.
We also recommend watering the Strelitzia Reginae once a week. This helps keep the plant healthy, removes dust from the leaves and works as a preventative against pests.
Light requirements Strelitzia Reginae - 200 cm
The Strelitzia Reginae originates from a climate where the sun almost always shines. This easy houseplant likes a position with sufficient light. If you put Strelitzia Reginae in a place with direct sunlight, we recommend you let the plant get used to it. Build up the direct sunlight hours slowly.
If the Strelitzia Reginae is in a place with too little light, the plant will drop its leaves. In this case, move the houseplant.
Is the Strelitzia Reginae - 200 cm a toxic houseplant?
The Strelitzia Reginae is a slightly toxic air-purifying houseplant. When touching the plant, nothing will happen, however, ingesting the leaves is not recommended. So take into account its location when small children or animals are present.
