Product Description
The Calathea Oppenheimiana, native to the tropics of Brazil and Colombia, is known for its ‘moving’ leaves. They close at sunset, only to open again at first dawn - as if the plant has a rhythm of its own.
This special characteristic earned it the nickname ‘Prayer Plant’, as the upward-pointing leaves are reminiscent of praying hands. A living, atmospheric addition to your interior!
Care & tips Calathea Oppenheimiana - 130cm
The Calathea Oppenheimiana thrives best in high humidity. If the air is too dry, it loses its ornamental value; the leaves develop brown tips and their colour fades. Of course, you want to avoid this! Therefore, spray the plant regularly to keep it healthy and radiant.
Water requirements Calathea Oppenheimiana - 130cm
The Calathea Oppenheimiana likes moist soil, but without it becoming soggy. The top layer should not dry out, but too much water can cause root rot.
Check the soil regularly, especially in the beginning. Does the soil feel dry after just two days? Then water it a little more. Is the soil still very wet after five days? Then give a little less next time. When the plant is repotted, we recommend using a moisture meter.
Light requirements Calathea Oppenheimiana - 130cm
The Calathea Oppenheimiana will thrive in a spot in normal daylight with mostly some shade. Direct sunlight is a real no go for this plant. The leaves will fail and no new leaves will be produced.
Is the Calathea Oppenheimiana - 130cm poisonous?
The Calathea Oppenheimiana is not a toxic houseplant, so you don't need to be careful with small children and pets.
How will my Calathea Oppenheimiana be shipped?
This beautiful houseplant is delivered in a cultivation pot. All our plants are shipped in a specially designed shipping box. Due to the unique interior of the shipping boxes, the houseplants stand firmly in the box and cannot move. Houseplants don't mind spending a day in a dark box. This way, we make sure your green friends are delivered to your home in tip-top order.
