The Calathea thrives best in high humidity. In air that is too dry, it loses its ornamental value; the leaves develop brown tips and their color fades. Naturally, you want to prevent this! Therefore, mist the plant regularly to keep it healthy and vibrant.
Water needs Calathea Oppenheimiana - 130cm
The Calathea likes moist soil, but without becoming waterlogged. The top layer of soil should not dry out, but too much water can cause root rot.
Check the soil regularly, especially in the beginning. Does the soil feel dry again after two days? Then give a bit more water. Is the soil still very wet after five days? Then give slightly less water next time. When the plant has been repotted, we recommend using a moisture meter.

The plant will be happy in a spot with normal daylight and mostly some shade. Direct sunlight is a real “no-go” for this plant. The leaves will turn pale and no new leaves will develop.
