Product Description

The Tulip bulbs Candle Light are bulbs of tulips in varied colours that together create a colourful, lively picture. The flowers stand on sturdy stems and grow to around 40 to 50 centimetres tall. They look lovely in the garden and also as cut flowers in a vase.

The bulbs are size 11/12 and each produce one generous flower. They suit the border, the edge of a path or a pot or planter on the patio. With 12 bulbs you fill a pot of about 35 centimetres, with 24 bulbs a spot in the border. With 48 or 96 bulbs you can plant a whole bed; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. Combine them with other tulip bulbs that flower at the same time, such as tulips in one calm colour that let the different shades stand out. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Tulip bulbs Candle Light?

The best time to plant the Tulip bulbs Candle Light is from mid-October to the end of November, once the soil has cooled to below 10 °C. The bulbs will then still form roots before winter without sprouting too early. As long as the ground is not frozen, you can plant until December. The bulbs need the winter cold to flower in April and May, so do not plant them in spring.

When do the Tulip bulbs Candle Light flower?

The Tulip bulbs Candle Light flower during the tulip season from mid-April to mid-May. Each flower stays beautiful for about two to three weeks. In a pot in a warm spot they often flower a week earlier, after a cold spring a little later. If you let the foliage die back after flowering, they will return next spring.

Care and tips Tulip bulbs Candle Light

Plant the bulbs pointed end up, about 12 to 15 centimetres deep and 8 to 10 centimetres apart. Plant a few bulbs separately in a pot, so you can later cut flowers for the vase without leaving gaps in the border. Tulips like well-drained soil; if your garden stays wet, mix some sand into the soil. In a pot, give them a drainage layer of gravel or clay pebbles; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a suitable model. After flowering, only cut off the spent flower and leave the foliage until it turns yellow, so the bulb stores food for next year. A little bulb fertiliser in autumn or early spring is enough.

Water needs of the Tulip bulbs Candle Light

In open ground the bulbs need little water. Only water after planting if the autumn is very dry. In a pot, water about once a week in spring as soon as the leaves appear. Never leave water standing in the saucer, because bulbs in wet soil will rot.

Light needs of the Tulip bulbs Candle Light

Give them a sunny spot with at least six hours of sun a day. In full sun the stems stay strong and the flowers get their deepest colour. In partial shade they flower too, but with slightly longer stems and less abundantly.

Are the Tulip bulbs Candle Light toxic?

The Tulip bulbs Candle Light are mildly toxic if ingested, especially the bulb itself. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. The sap can irritate sensitive skin, so wear garden gloves when planting.

How will my Tulip bulbs Candle Light be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
