Care & tips for the Beaucarnea – 90cm
The Beaucarnea is also known as the elephant's foot. It owes that nickname to its thick trunk, which looks rather like an elephant's leg. Besides giving it a unique look, that thick trunk is genuinely handy for the plant: the Beaucarnea stores its water in there, so it carries its own reservoir around with it. That means you don't have to water it often and it can go a long time without, which is very convenient!
How much water does the Beaucarnea – 90cm need?
As mentioned above, the Beaucarnea needs very little water. The plant stores it in its trunk, so it can keep itself going for a long while. We recommend watering again only once the soil has been dry for some time. In winter that will take even longer than in summer. When in doubt, wait a little longer, because too much water can cause root rot.
How much light does the Beaucarnea – 90cm need?
The Beaucarnea likes a bright spot, so put it close to a window where it gets plenty of daylight. It needs that light to stay looking good. With too little light, leaf growth slows down or even stops altogether.
