Care & tips for the Beaucarnea - 120cm
The Beaucarnea is also known as the elephant's foot. It owes that nickname to its large trunk, which looks just like an elephant's foot. Besides its unique look, the thick trunk is also very handy for the plant: this is where the Beaucarnea stores its water, so it effectively has its own reservoir. That means you don't need to water it often and it can go a long time without. Handy!
How much water does the Beaucarnea - 120cm need?
As mentioned above, the Beaucarnea needs little water. It stores water in its trunk, which keeps it supplied for a long time. We recommend only watering again once the soil has been dry for a good while. In winter that will take even longer than in summer. If in doubt, wait a bit longer before watering. Too much water can cause root rot, and the plant can't cope with that.
How much light does the Beaucarnea - 120cm need?
The Beaucarnea likes a spot in the light, so place it close to a window where it gets plenty of daylight. It needs that light to stay looking its best. With too little light, leaf growth slows down or even stops altogether.
