The Chamaerops is known for its bent leaves and small blemishes on the foliage. These palms grow on the Spanish coast in the wind and bend their leaves as a form of protection. This precaution ensures that a whole stem doesn't snap off with every gust of wind.

This beautiful tropical plant is also known as the European dwarf palm. It's the only palm species that originates from Europe. It grows mainly around the Mediterranean and does well both as a houseplant and as an outdoor plant, because this palm copes well with frost.
