Product Description

The Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade are bulbs of a tulip in soft pink shades with fresh, lemon-coloured accents. The flowers sit on long, elegant stems of around 45 to 55 centimetres.

The bulbs are size 11/12 and each produce one generous flower. They look lovely in a pot on the patio, in the border or along the path, and thanks to their long stems they make an excellent cut flower. With 12 bulbs you fill a pot of about 30 centimetres, with 24 bulbs a large pot or a spot in the border. With 48 or 96 bulbs you can plant a bed or a row in the cutting garden; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. Combine them with other tulip bulbs that flower at the same time, such as white or soft yellow tulips. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade?

The best time to plant the Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade is from mid-October to the end of November, once the soil has cooled to below 10 °C. The bulbs will then still form roots before winter without sprouting too early. As long as the ground is not frozen, you can plant until December. The bulbs need the winter cold to flower in April and May, so do not plant them in spring.

When do the Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade flower?

The Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade flower later in the tulip season, from April into May. Each flower stays beautiful in the garden for about two to three weeks, and about a week in the vase. In a pot in a warm spot they often flower a week earlier, after a cold spring a little later. If you let the foliage die back after flowering, they can return the following spring, although flowering is then usually a little less abundant.

Care and tips Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade

Plant the bulbs pointed end up, about 12 to 15 centimetres deep and 8 to 10 centimetres apart. Tulips like well-drained soil; if your soil stays wet, mix in some sand. In a pot, give them a drainage layer of gravel or clay pebbles; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a suitable model. Cut tulips for the vase when the bud is just showing colour and put them in cool water. After flowering in the garden, cut off the spent flower and leave the foliage until it turns yellow. A little bulb fertiliser in early spring is enough.

Water needs of the Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade

In open ground the bulbs need little water. Only water after planting if the autumn is very dry. In a pot, water about once a week in spring as soon as the leaves appear. Never leave water standing in the saucer, because bulbs in wet soil will rot.

Light needs of the Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade

Give them a sunny spot with at least six hours of sun a day. In full sun the stems stay strong and the flowers get their best colour. In partial shade they flower too, but with slightly longer stems and less abundantly.

Are the Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade toxic?

The Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade are mildly toxic if ingested, especially the bulb itself. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. The sap can irritate sensitive skin, so wear garden gloves when planting.

How will my Tulip bulbs Strawberry Lemonade be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
