The Cupressus is an easy-going garden plant. It's reasonably hardy, though we recommend protecting it with a tree cover in prolonged frost. The cypress is happiest in a sheltered spot, too.

The Cupressus needs a moderate to small amount of water. It's important that the soil stays lightly moist at all times, but don't let the roots get too wet. Make sure the soil drains well so excess water can run off and the plant stays healthy.

The cypress isn't fussy about where it stands. It does perfectly well in a sunny spot and in one that is mostly shade.
