This amazing Beaucarnea multi-stem originates from South America and can grow up to 5 metres high here in the wild. Don't worry, in your living room the Beaucarnea will (fortunately) grow a little slower.

This sturdy houseplant is also known as Elephant's Foot. The plant owes this nickname to its large trunk, which resembles an elephant's leg. Besides its unique appearance, the thick trunk is also very useful for the plant. In it, Beaucarnea stores water and has its own water reservoir. As a result, the plant does not need to be watered very often and can go a long time without it, which is handy!

Beaucarnea is not a difficult plant to look after. With proper care, the leaves will replace themselves each time and the head will stay nice and full.

Water requirements of Beaucarnea - 170cm

As mentioned above, the Beaucarnea needs very little water. The plant stores water in the stem. This way, the Beaucarnea can supply itself with water for a long time. We recommend not to water again until the soil is dry for a long time. In winter, this will be even longer than in summer. If in doubt, we recommend waiting before watering. Too much water can cause root rot, which the plant cannot tolerate.
