They grow to around 40 to 50 centimetres tall on sturdy stems. Because the colours are already mixed, you get a lively result without any puzzling, and they are suitable as cut flowers.

The bulbs are size 11/12 and each produce one generous flower. Plant them in the border, along the path or in a pot on the patio. With 12 bulbs you fill a pot of about 30 centimetres, with 24 bulbs a large pot or a spot in the border. With 48 or 96 bulbs you can plant a whole bed; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. If you want some calm in the whole, combine the mix with tulip bulbs in one solid colour. The bulbs will then still form roots before winter without sprouting too early. As long as the ground is not frozen, you can plant until December. The bulbs need the winter cold to flower in April and May, so do not plant them in spring.

When do the Tulip bulbs Macron mix flower?

The Tulip bulbs Macron mix flower in April and May. Each flower stays beautiful for about two to three weeks. Because it is a blend, the moment of opening can differ slightly per colour, which often makes the flowering in the border last a little longer. In a pot in a warm spot they often flower a week earlier, after a cold spring a little later. If you let the foliage die back after flowering, they will return next spring.

Care and tips Tulip bulbs Macron mix

Plant the bulbs pointed end up, about 12 to 15 centimetres deep and 8 to 10 centimetres apart. Tulips like well-drained soil; if your garden stays wet, mix some sand into the soil. In a pot, give them a drainage layer of gravel or clay pebbles; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a suitable model. After flowering, only cut off the spent flower and leave the foliage until it turns yellow, so the bulb stores food for next year. A little bulb fertiliser in autumn or early spring is enough.

Water needs of the Tulip bulbs Macron mix

In open ground the bulbs need little water. Only water after planting if the autumn is very dry. In a pot, water about once a week in spring as soon as the leaves appear. Never leave water standing in the saucer, because bulbs in wet soil will rot.

Light needs of the Tulip bulbs Macron mix

Give them a sunny spot with at least six hours of sun a day. In full sun the stems stay strong and all the colours of the mix show at their best. In partial shade they flower too, but with slightly longer stems and less abundantly.

Are the Tulip bulbs Macron mix toxic?

The Tulip bulbs Macron mix are mildly toxic if ingested, especially the bulb itself. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. The sap can irritate sensitive skin, so wear garden gloves when planting.

How will my Tulip bulbs Macron mix be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped.
