Product Description

The Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss are bulbs of a daffodil with white and yellow flowers. The fresh combination of both colours looks light and cheerful and goes with almost any other spring bloomer. The plants grow to around 40 centimetres tall on sturdy stems. It is a strong daffodil that comes back every year.

The bulbs are size 12/14, a solid size that flowers well. They suit the border, pots and troughs on the patio and grass, where they can naturalise. With 10 bulbs you fill a pot of about 30 centimetres, with 20 bulbs a group in the border. With 40 or 80 bulbs you can plant a whole bed or a cheerful strip in the grass; allow 30 to 50 bulbs per square metre. Place them next to all-yellow daffodil bulbs for a warm, sunny effect. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss?

The best time to plant the Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss is between mid-October and the end of November. Around then the soil temperature drops below 10 °C and the bulbs start rooting without producing leaves above ground yet. In a mild winter you can keep planting into December, as long as there is no frost in the ground. Without a cold period there will be no flowers, so do not wait until spring to plant them.

When do the Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss flower?

The Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss flower in March and April. Each flower stays fresh for about two weeks, and a group flowers for longer because the buds do not all open at the same time. In a pot by a warm wall flowering starts earlier, after a cold spring later. If you cut them for the vase, first let them stand separately for a night so the sap from the stems does not affect other flowers. In grass they can naturalise and spread further year after year.

Care and tips Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss

Plant the bulbs pointed end up at a depth of about 15 centimetres, with 10 to 12 centimetres between them. Well-drained soil prevents rot; in compact clay, first work in some sand or compost. Give pots and troughs a drainage hole and a layer of clay pebbles; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a suitable one. After flowering, snip off the faded flowers and leave the foliage for another six weeks to feed the bulb. A little bulb fertiliser as they emerge in spring keeps the bulbs strong.

Water needs of the Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss

In the garden, natural rainfall is usually sufficient. After planting in a dry autumn, water once. In pots and troughs the soil dries out faster; water there about once a week in spring. Always make sure the water can drain away, because bulbs in wet soil rot.

Light needs of the Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss

Put them in a sunny spot, where they flower most abundantly and the stems stay sturdiest. They also do reasonably well in partial shade, for example at the edge of a border under shrubs that are still bare when the daffodils flower.

Are the Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss toxic?

The Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss are toxic if ingested, in particular the bulb. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. The sap can cause skin irritation, so wear garden gloves when planting and picking.

How will my Daffodil bulbs Macaron Bloss be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
