Product Description

The Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs combine four bright spring colours: soft pink, radiant yellow, deep red and purple. They are Triumph tulips with flawless, upright flower cups on sturdy, straight stems of about 45 centimetres. It is a reliable tulip group that stays neatly upright even after a shower.

These bulbs have a bulb size of up to 17 cm in circumference, on average larger than the standard size 11/12. Plant them in open ground or in decorative pots. With 35 bulbs you fill a large pot by the front door, with 70 bulbs a striking group in the border. With 140 or 280 bulbs you can plant one or more flower beds; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. Feel free to cut a few stems for a bouquet: the flawless flower cups fill the vase straight away. Combine them with other tulip bulbs in white so the four colours stand out even more. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs?

The Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs go into the ground from mid-October to the end of November. By then the soil has cooled to below 10 °C and the bulbs have time to root firmly before the frost arrives. You can still plant in December, as long as the ground is not frozen. Spring planting is pointless: the bulbs need the winter cold to form flowers.

When do the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs flower?

The Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs are in flower in spring, on average in April and in a mild year from late March. A flower stays beautiful for two to three weeks. In a pot against a sunny wall they flower first, in a cool, shady corner last. Leave the foliage after flowering; the bulb will then have enough reserves to return.

Care and tips Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs

Give these bulbs a planting depth of about 15 centimetres and around 10 centimetres between them. Tulips like humus-rich, well-drained soil; in heavy ground a scoop of sharp sand in the planting hole helps. In decorative pots, first add a drainage layer of clay pebbles; you can choose an attractive pot from our outdoor pots and baskets. Remove spent flowers before they set seed and let the foliage die back until it is yellow and limp. In early spring, scatter some bulb fertiliser.

Water needs of the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs

In the garden rain is usually sufficient; only during a long dry spell after planting should you water once. In decorative pots the compost dries out faster in spring, so water about once a week as soon as the leaves are visible. Let the water drain away well: wet feet are fatal for tulip bulbs.

Light needs of the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs

Sun is essential for these tulips: six hours or more a day. That keeps the stems straight and gives the yellow and red their full glow. In a very shady spot the stems bend towards the light and flowering is disappointing.

Are the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs toxic?

The Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs are mildly toxic if ingested, especially the bulbs. So keep pets and young children away from them. If you have sensitive skin, it is best to wear gloves against the sap when planting.

How will my Tulip bulbs Triumph mix XL bulbs be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
