Product Description

The Daffodil bulbs Yellow are bulbs of a yellow garden daffodil: the familiar spring flower with a bright yellow bloom on a sturdy stem of around 35 to 40 centimetres. It is a strong, reliable daffodil that returns every year and naturalises easily in grass. That makes it well suited to planting in large numbers.

The bulbs are size 10/12 and are available in quantities from 40 to 560. With 40 bulbs you fill a few large pots or a spot in the border, with 70 or 80 bulbs a generous group along the path. With 140 or 160 bulbs you plant a bed of three to five square metres. With 280, 320 or 560 bulbs you create a yellow strip in the lawn or under trees; allow 30 to 50 bulbs per square metre, so 560 bulbs are enough for eleven to eighteen square metres. Combine them with white daffodil bulbs for a fresh yellow and white spring picture. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Daffodil bulbs Yellow?

For the Daffodil bulbs Yellow the planting period runs from mid-October to the end of November, when the soil has dropped below 10 °C. In that cool soil the bulbs root well while the foliage stays below ground. If you are planting a large quantity, you can carry on into December as long as it is not freezing. Planting in spring makes no sense, because without winter cold the bulbs do not form flowers.

When do the Daffodil bulbs Yellow flower?

The Daffodil bulbs Yellow flower in March and April. Each flower stays good for about two weeks. In a warm, sheltered spot or in a pot they flower earlier, after a cold spring later. For the vase, cut the stems in bud; keep them separate for a few hours before combining them with other flowers, because their sap makes those wilt sooner. In grass the bulbs naturalise and the groups become fuller every year.

Care and tips Daffodil bulbs Yellow

Plant the bulbs 12 to 15 centimetres deep, pointed end up and 10 to 15 centimetres apart. For large numbers in the lawn, make holes with a bulb planter or lift a piece of turf, place the bulbs underneath and press the turf back down. The soil must drain well; lighten heavy clay with sand or compost. Pots need a layer of gravel at the bottom; take a look at our outdoor pots and baskets for a pot that fits. Leave the foliage for six weeks after flowering before you mow. A little bulb fertiliser in spring keeps the bulbs strong.

Water needs of the Daffodil bulbs Yellow

Daffodils in open ground usually manage on rainwater. Only in an exceptionally dry autumn or spring do you give extra. In pots and planters, water roughly once a week during growth and flowering. The bulbs do not tolerate wet feet, so make sure excess water can always drain away.

Light needs of the Daffodil bulbs Yellow

Choose a sunny spot for the Daffodil bulbs Yellow; the more sun, the richer the flowering. In the light shade of trees that only come into leaf after the daffodils have flowered, they also do well.

Are the Daffodil bulbs Yellow toxic?

The Daffodil bulbs Yellow are toxic if ingested; most of the toxic substances are in the bulb. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. Work with garden gloves, because the sap can irritate the skin, especially when you plant a lot of bulbs.

How will my Daffodil bulbs Yellow be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
