Give it a spot in open ground or a large, heavy planter with well-draining soil. At this height a heavy planter is important for stability; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find roomy models that are suitable for this. Mix the soil with some sand or gravel and make sure there is a drainage hole so excess water can escape.

A dose of Pokon Organic Garden Fertiliser in spring helps it get going after winter; it does not need any more feeding than that. Remove old leaves at the bottom now and then and the trunk stays nicely visible. Use sharp scissors and gloves for this. Because it is winter hardy, it can stay outdoors all year round, as long as the roots are not standing in water in winter.

Water needs of the Yucca Filifera Australis garden plant - 180 cm

This large yucca copes extremely well with drought. Above all, prevent water from standing around the roots.

Light needs of the Yucca Filifera Australis garden plant - 180 cm

A sunny position lets this palm lily show itself at its best.
